I'm Bummed - Amused - but Bummed

Hope and Jack and I are snuggling on the "big bed". Hope pats my stomach and says, "Jack - put your head down on daddy's tummy. It's like a big squishey pillow."

Last time I checked you stomach is not a big squishy pillow. I've actually noticed that you and Heidi have slimmed down alot lately. (Not that you were fat in the first place. Your exercise and diet regimine are working.)

On the other hand, my stomach is "squishy". (I'm working on that.) Children have this ability to innocently point out amusing things to them that in turn are massive ones to us.

Case in point: 2 years ago (and 20+ lbs less) one of my preschool kids in the middle of the story raised her hand sweetly. I called her name. Her question? She wanted to know if I had a baby in my tummy. All the adults broke out into nervous laughter. I just laughed, poked my finger into my stomach and said, "Nah, I'm just fat!"

Now I just need to get back to that "fat" stage of two years ago!

When my children say things like this, I get by with the knowledge that they too will be squishy someday!

2 days ago - Haley asked me if I was having a baby because my belly was big. I said no. She said, "Oh, then you must need to poop."

There are the "apple-shaped" folks; there are the "pear-shaped" folks. I belong more to the watermelon group.
